Eye Care Services / Eye Exams
HD Eyecare offers comprehensive eye exams for the whole family. Our services also include pediatric and diabetic eye exams.
During your eye exam, Dr. Doan will ask a series of questions regarding your history with vision problems. She will also take into account your overall health. Patients should come prepared to discuss symptoms, medications, environmental conditions, and family history.
After discussing your medical history, Dr. Doan will perform a visual acuity test. Visual acuity measures how well each eye is seeing. Reading charts are used to measure visual acuity, and the test result is written as a fraction, ie. 20/20.
After testing your visual acuity, Dr. Doan may need to evaluate specific aspects of your visual function. She may test your depth perception, color vision, eye muscle movements, peripheral vision, or pupil dilation.
If needed, a keratometry test is used to measure the curvature of the cornea for contact lenses. Dr. Doan may also run a refraction test to check for refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
In some cases, a slit lamp microscope is used to identify cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
After the examination is complete, Dr. Doan will evaluate the test results and determine a diagnosis. She will discuss the findings of your eye exam and explain your treatment options.
